Spamfighter is a good program, no doubt about that. But I have an issue that discourages me from using it on a regular basis. I have Thunderbird email client and when I click on "get mail" the first message or two are downloaded and then the program seems to hang for as much as 10 seconds before downloading the rest. I thought that when Thunderbird was compacting folders that would be making Spamfighter hang until the compacting was done. So I tried to compacting manually and see if that was the issue. But Spamfighter still hangs for that 10 seconds before downloading mail.

Can you tell me how long you have been using SPAMfighter? You could be using an older version that will need to be updated to ensure SPAMfighter works properly.

Yes, that is a good point.
Other security programs running on the PC could be (and often are) the cause of slowdowns.
