I have installed the trial version of Spamfighter and so far for the past 2 weeks I have been using it, I really love it.  It works perfectly for me except for this one issue that is really bothering me.  Every day, I get thousands of blank emails dated 12/31/1969 (time stamped 7:00pm) with no TO:, no FROM:, no SUBJ: and no MESSAGE.  Everything is blank except the date which is 12/31/1969 and the time which is 7:00pm.  If you open the file, there is no file - no From, To:, Subj: etc... just a big blank space.  When I empty the spamfighter folder through the menu option, all files are deleted EXCEPT these files - in fact, when you look at the folder and the number of files that are supposed to be in the folder, they files are not counted.  They are phantom files!  I have to manually select them, delete them and then go to the trash and empty it.  An hour or so later, they are all back in there again.  I have tried changing my settings in my Thunderbird client, I don't store messages on the server.  Before I used Spamfighter, I used AVG and before that, I used nothing except the Thunderbird built-in junk controls and never have I had these files so I am sure it is something to do with Spamfighter.  Has anyone had this problem?  In the time it has taken me to write this post, I now have 1239 of these emails in my spamfighter folder - I am baffled.  Can someone offer any advice?

I have never heard of such an issue being related to spamfighter; I would suggest uninstalling spamfighter through the control paneld by going to your "Start" menu in Windows, then "Control Panel" then "Add or Remove Programs". Select SPAMfighter from the list and then uninstall.

You can then check to see if the mails are coming into Thunderbird someplace else. They may not even be mail; they may be some kind of file created in error by some program on the PC.The AVG email scanner plugin may need to be disabled if it is causing a conflict with spamfighter or another pogram.  To do so:

1. Exit any email programs that are running.

2. Start the AVG control center. To do that, click on the tiny
red, black, yellow, and green square down by the clock on the
taskbar, at the bottom-right hand corner of your screen.

3. Click on the large Email Scanner button (you'll find it on the
right section of the control center window). Select 'Properties'
from the bottom panel in the control center.

4. A window should open, with a tab labeled Plug-in at the
top. Click 'Disable Plug-In' on the Plug-in tab.

5. Also click the "Configure" button and then uncheck all 5
options (scan incoming mail, scan outgoing mail, use heuristics,
scan in archives, scan attachments).

6. Click OK, and OK again.

7. Close the control center. Open your e-mail program and
try again.

If you do not seen them coming in; you can try reinstalling spamfighter by going to our site at www.spamfighter.com and clicking "download now", then going through the install process.

I hope this helps

If you are using Thunderbird, are these messages showing up in your Junk folder? that is where the same 1969 dated messages show up in mine wach time I receive a message that is filtered by Spamfighter.

I have experienced that problem once and it has really brought a lot of stress to me. I have tried many things that was suggested online and with my friends but nothing works for me. Until I I just reloaded spamfilter and the problem was totally fixed. Just like what you did.

I've been using Spamfighter for 6 months now and never had problems as you mentioned above. I think I'm lucky enough for not receiving that kind of email.
